My Students
I teach students with autism who are in high school in an inclusion program. This is the first year of the program and still requires resources for all the students to have the resources they need. These students go to all general education classes, they just have some extra support from me and the staff working in my classroom. I love working with these students because they have their own unique personality that is special to the world. Our group of kids are your typical teenagers; they love to joke around and are very caring for one another. Even though we have known each other for only approximately only a few months, we already feel like family.
We celebrate the small wins, something that may seem insignificant, such as doing one assignment of homework a night, is a big victory for us.
We do learn about the regular subjects (math, science, history, and english), but we also try to incorporate how to be a functioning member of a community with social skills lessons. Honestly, these kids make coming to work every day a joy!
My Project
My students were absolutely overjoyed when they found out that they were getting Chromebooks thanks to the generosity of donors from Donorschoose. They can use their Chromebooks for so many things, such as writing essays, using various Google products, using speech to text and text to speech, using the internet for research, and so much more that they were unable to do previously.
This project is solely asking for a Chromebook cart to store the Chromebooks that were previously purchased by amazing people like you.
My school district was unable to provide me with a new cart, because the chromebooks were not technically the property of the district, and let's face it Chromebook carts are expensive. Please help us in figuring out how to store these Chromebooks on a daily basis.
