My Students
My students are sixth graders, attending an intermediate school, in Connecticut. They come from all areas of town and are mostly from an urban setting. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. In our district, funding is extremely limited, and access to resources are almost non-existent. I want my classroom to be a place where my students can comfortably learn, in a safe and exciting environment, but I also want to give them every opportunity possible to help them succeed.
My Project
We have been lucky to receive several Chrome books for the classroom. At this point, we only need a few more to compete a class set. This would mean every student in my class would have access to an individual Chrome book and not have to share.
These devices open a world of possibilities in my classroom.
Students are much more likely to engage in vocabulary practice when they can compete using Quizlet Live. They have thrived using Google Classroom, Docs, and Slides to create their digital stories. We are currently working on Ancient India and they will create their own digital newspaper to demonstrate what they've learned. None of this would be possible without these Chrome books. We just need these last few!
