My Students
My students love being involved in activities that spark the imagination. They are an energetic bunch, so willing to participate in all we do at school. Our school is a rural school with just under 500 students K-8. We are located near a small town that used to be a logging town here in central California. Our school is surrounded 360 degrees by open land - cattle grazing land, woods, brooks, and meadows. Although we don't own that land, we learn all about it while we explore our sciences.
My Project
My students will use these Chromebooks in science. I am the kindergarten, first, and second grade science teacher. Chromebooks will allow my students to find valuable resources to use for their defense in academic conversations.
Science standards emphasize students' knowledge, and their ability to put forth an argument and defend it.
With the use of Chromebooks, my students would have the opportunity to find pictures and videos to help them understand a concept. These formats are much more age appropriate than text. These ideas can further be formulated as part of a team. Another strategy is to use Google Classroom. This helps me send selected media straight to each student.
