Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The holiday season is a wonderful opportunity to build community, teach social-emotional skills, and strengthen positive classroom culture. Many of my students face financial challenges, and some may not have access to holiday celebrations or small gifts at home.

To support their emotional well-being and reinforce learning, I am creating Christmas-themed learning gift bags that include items such as books, writing tools, activity packs, and SEL-focused materials.

While festive, these items will serve an academic purpose: encouraging reading at home, supporting writing and creativity, building fine motor skills, and reinforcing classroom routines.

The gift bags will support social-emotional learning by helping students feel valued and included, which research shows increases motivation, engagement, and positive behavior. Additionally, each bag will include a learning activity that students can complete over winter break to prevent learning loss and help them stay connected to their skills.

Each bag will include a small “Winter Break Learning Challenge,” encouraging students to read, write, or complete an activity each day. Your support will help us provide students with meaningful, education-centered holiday bags that bring joy and promote literacy, creativity, and emotional well-being.
