Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from many different parts of the world. We have at least seven different countries and languages represented in my class. Unfortunately, my students come from less affluent homes. Lots of my kids are refugees who come from war-torn countries. My students are eager to learn and they work hard every day to do their best.
Most of my students speak very little English and have never been to school before.
I also have my English-speaking students who sadly share the same socioeconomic background. We are located in a very low-income part of San Diego.
My Project
This year is particularly difficult for all students and staff. After almost two years of pandemic learning, it has taken a toll on everyone.
Christmas should be fun, joyful, and a happy time for children.
Let’s make this Christmas a little more happy for students who are overwhelmed with returning to the classroom.
The students deserve a few gifts like sports equipment, games and art materials for the holidays to reward them for being back in the classroom. It has been a challenge to adjust to being back in school in person. My students come from poor homes with little resources and might not get too many gifts this year.
