Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students that attend my school come from all different backgrounds. We have students who have two parents in their home to students who live with a single parent to students who live with a different family member for gaurdianship. We have foster children, refugee children, and homeless children attending our school. I love the bright smiles they come in with everyday knowing that no matter what is going on in their homes Mrs. Womack loves them and is there for them.
My Project
My students are loving the flexible seating options that we have in our classroom this year. With the help of my first donors choose project and some items I supplied myself many of my students have found seats that help them be more successful in the classroom. I have multiple students who are fidgity and have ADHD. These seats help the students get some of their anxiety and fidgetiness out.
On the first day of school as students came into my classroom and they saw the different seating options they were in awe.
The students were so excited to be able to sit in what they called "fun" seats. After going over rules and responsibilities with the seating options and a few weeks of a seating chart to get to know the kids better, I took away assigned seats. The students now have an option every day about where they sit. Many students will gravitate to the same spot, however others move around to different seats. This has allowed the students to find the best learning spot for them in the classroom.
