My students need options to work in an environment that lets their creativity run free. I am asking for iPads, splitters and Bluetooth headsets so that 1/3 of my class can work with music.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are all unique learners. Some thrive in quiet environments, while others are more productive with music in their ears. Some of them have been together since PreK and some just met for the first time this year, but you won't be able to tell if you walk into my classroom. They treat each other like life-long friends.
My students are all from low income families and all are eligible for free meals; as such they have very limited resources for non-essential items and are used to compromising in many areas.
I don't believe learning should be one of them and want to provide them with options so that they get to know themselves as learners now and figure out what works for them.
My children are fun and alert. They are caring and are always helpful to their peers and other children in the school. They deserve the absolute best in the world and I am determined to try and give them as much of it as I can.
My Project
My fifth grade students all have very different learning styles. Some prefer to work at desks, others on the floor. There is a group that feels more productive on bean bag chairs, and some choose to stand. All of that can be accommodated in class. What we cannot agree on is the sound of our classroom while working. We have created multiple playlists to suit every one's taste, but still there is always a group that prefers no sound at all. One way I hope to change this is by giving them options to choose their own volume. Students will have the options of having music play while they work and full control over what they listen to (with teacher oversight) and work in a way that lets their creativity shine.
Each child will have the option of listening to music through a set of Bluetooth headphones to a playlist of music that inspires them or not listening to anything at all since the classroom will be quiet.
I want to start with enough headsets and devices for about one third of the class and see how this affects the learning and overall creativity in their work.
I am requesting four iPads and splitters so that the pairs of two can collaborate with playlists. I am also asking for eight headsets to start us off. My goal is to provide options for my students to decide for themselves. I am choosing Bluetooth because even though the students will collaborate on what to listen to, they will not be sitting next to each other because of our flexible seating.
