My Students
This project is inspired by Beach Buddies: Teach for the Planet. We live about 3 hours from the beautiful South Carolina Coast and need lessons on how to preserve our beautiful beaches!
We are so fortunate to live only a few hours away from many beaches.
This makes it possible for most of my students to visit the beach during the summer. It never fails when we start back to school that almost all of my students want to share about their summer vacation at the beach! I love hearing about their experiences and am so thankful they have had the opportunity to visit a place that many others cannot go due to distance or financial reasons. They love telling me about the sea life they see, the sea shells they pick up and how big the ocean looks!
My Project
This project is inspired by Beach Buddies: Teach for the Planet. This project will provide lessons on beaches, sea life and how to protect it. They will participate in hands-on-lessons related to environmental impacts on the ocean and marine life. We will read many books about sea animals and utilize the Sea Life Theme Box.
My students will learn about marine debris. They will learn how soda cans, trash and plastic bags left on the beach can end up in the water and harm the animals. Through these lessons they will learn the importance of using reusable items. Each student will receive a reusable tote bag that they can decorate to take home. These bags will serve as reminder to their families to use reusable bags at the grocery store to reduce the amount of plastic bags. My students will then use the iPad to document their learning and create presentations to teach their peers about the importance of protecting our earth!
Our young students are our future.
It is vital that they learn how to protect our environment so future generations can enjoy the beaches too. These lessons included in this project will teach my students small ways that they can help protect our environment! I appreciate your support and generosity to make this project possible for my kindergarten students.
