Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My unique Kindergarten class is made up of English language learners as well as students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Supplies in the school are scarce. Parents, being new to the country have to work multiple jobs, which makes it difficult to help their behavioral and academic needs.
The kindergarten class I teach consists of both special and regular education students from all ethnicities.
Some of the special education students are also English language learners as well as have behavioral and emotional issues. They love read aloud especially on topics they can relate to. The parents in the area are struggling to meet their families needs and therefore many students do not have books at home or even held their own books. Having these books will provide them with the opportunity to know what it is to have something of their own and give them inspiration to do well.
My Project
The books I am requesting will inspire my students to improve their behavior and work better socially with other students as well as teachers. Knowing how to act better in society and being accepted by their peers will help them improve academically especially at this young age. Kindergarten is the beginning and first step to how they will live the rest of their lives. Our kindergarteners are our future generation.
Literacy is so important in kindergarden and crucial to future academic success.
These books will motivate my class to learn and excite them into the world of reading. Supporting this project will help the future of the world. Help us from the ground up.
