My Students

I work with such an amazing community, staff, and not to mention my amazing students. They all work hard and everyone is so supportive to each other. Our elementary school has over 800 students with 50% being a minority. We have a very diverse school which helps make each classroom, including my own, very unique.

We consider each other to be family, and a family that is continually striving to challenge and help each other be our best.

My students are constantly working hard and trying their best each and everyday. My students amaze me and are continually teaching me as well as each other.

Out of my 30 students I have nine English Language Learners and five students who receive specialized services. We have quite the diverse classroom but without each and every one of us our classroom wouldn't be the same. We learn from each other and help each other to be our best.

My Project

Wonder by RJ Palacio is a novel that explores the life of August, a young boy who was born with many genetic abnormalities.

"Courage, Kindness, Friendship, Character, These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness" - Wonder by RJ Palacio.

I would love to have a class set of Wonder so that as a class we can read and together gain a new perspective on life. They will be able to learn and grow through so many different emotions when reading this book. It is a book that helps to teach valuable qualities that will help grow my classroom community.

Classroom community is something that is very important in my classroom and I want my students to grow together and remember to choose kindness. While teaching to choose kindness it will also help my students to see the value of being accepting of others who are different than them. Wonder will help to teach some valuable and hard to teach, on their own, values. Wonder is a great way for students to learn to choose kindness and that it matters how you are treating others.
