My Students
When most people go to work, they are greeted by a computer, a register, or a telephone. I get greeted by tiny, smiling faces that are eager to learn. These amazing students are the reason I gladly stay till five at night, come in on the weekends, and toss and turn at night thinking about their successes and areas of improvement.
There is growing scientific evidence that shows students environments greatly impact their ability to learn and their test scores.
My goal create a classroom environment and provide supplies that help students thrive to the best of their ability. My students are kind, giving, happy and dedicated to their education. Knowing that cheeseburgers are my favorite food, I often hear "Mrs. Crane, meet me in the cafeteria, cheeseburgers are on the menu today. You can share mine with me!" They have pride in who they are, how hard they work at school, and the bond we have made. At my school, more than half of our students are economically disadvantaged, and many come from foster programs and/or are English language learners. Donating to my class today will not only help my current students but also many more to come!
My Project
I am requesting these fun and engaging activities to provide my students with more preferred choice during their social - emotional time of day. The may look like just games to us, but students work hard all day to earn this special time of day.
A big part of kindergarten is learning how to work well with others and deal with emotions appropriately.
These materials will help them build their skills in these areas. Students learn how to get along, work through problems, share, communicate kindly and much more during this time of day. Students also work hard all day to earn their "choice time." These materials will help motivate them to work hard during leveled reading groups, math, science and other core subjects.
