Chinese New Year Feast

Help me give my students the tools and materials to prepare a Chinese New Year feast. Family and Consumer Science classes will prepare Chinese dishes using the woks and Art classes will decorate the classroom for the occasion.

My Project

Art and Family and Consumer Science students will work together to prepare a Chinese New Year Feast.

FCS students will use the woks to prepare dishes from the 8 culinary regions of China.

They will be able to use the woks in future academic years to repeat the celebration as well. Students will use cookbooks and the Internet to find recipes. Panda Club’s recipe for Da Lu Mian will be included.

Art students will prepare decorations using the lanterns and polymer clay representing the animals of the Zodiac. Students will try paper cutting to embellish the lanterns. The polymer clay will be used to make chopstick holders for the table setting at the feast.
