Help me give my students an opportunity to celebrate the Chinese (Lunar) New Year in style! Having lived and taught in China from 2015 - 2019, I fondly remember the red lantern decorations around town!

My Project

Having lived and taught in China from 2015 until 2019, I fondly remember all the red lantern decorations around town. I learned the art of paper cutting from my best friend, whom I accompanied to many schools where she taught this traditional art to Chinese students. My friend also gave me her recipe for steamed dumplings, and I want to share what I learned and experienced with my students here in the United States.

My students will learn to cut the Chinese character "Double Happiness" from red construction paper and use the characters to decorate the school as it is a good luck charm for the Lunar New Year.

They will also learn to cook Chinese steamed dumplings using an authentic Chinese recipe.
