My Students
We are starting a brand new school in Cleveland that is centered around the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Our students come from all over Cleveland and represent a dynamic mix of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. The students, however, have one characteristic that truly stands out: their love and eagerness for learning.
We are wanting to create a dynamic music program that can reach out to our great mix of cultures so that everyone is involved.
In being a new school, it is up to me and my students to create that program and it starts with a solid foundation in band, orchestra, percussion, and modern band classes.
My Project
We are beginning a high school program with some strong feeder programs! It is a very exciting time at our school and I want to keep that momentum by giving the players what they need to keep improving. We are slowly building our instrument inventory and need to secure chin rests for our players that use school-owned instruments. Chin rests allow our violin and viola players to play their instruments securely and with correct posture to avoid injuries in their neck and wrist. This grant would allow us to secure these essential accessories for our instrumentalists and save monies towards more instruments for our incoming class next year.
