Children Need Access to Literature!

Help me give my students access to literature! As a new ELA teacher, it is difficult to create a classroom library with nothing. Let's get more students reading! Sometimes all it takes is providing access.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Kalaola's classroom raised $743

My Project

I am a sixth grade ELA teacher in my third year of teaching... and do not have a classroom library as every teacher should. In 2025 when so many schools and students have thrown out paper and moved to laptops and Google Classroom, it is difficult to get young students into reading when they'd rather play Roblox or type an essay as quickly as possible.

Learning stems from literacy.

Whether it's ELA, science, history, math, health, or home economics; students require the skills and tools need to understand all types of texts. In order to build this literacy, students must read. In a community where access to literature is often limited, it is essential to provide as much access as possible.

With a classroom library full of old classics from our childhood as well as newer pieces that pique our Gen Alpha students' interest, I believe I can get students reading by choice which will begin fostering more of the essential literacy skills they need to continue succeeding.

Your help in guiding our students to the path of success would be immensely appreciated!
