Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students I serve are many. The students I serve are unique. The students I serve were created to learn and do fantastic and innovative things. My students are shared among my colleagues but are exceptional when they are in my presence. I get to be in their learning experience to help build them into functional, equipped, and eager learners. I enjoy getting a glimpse of their developing individual expressions, as they bud using new skill sets, blossom into their potential, and yield thriving and talented beings.
It is intriguing and heartwarming to observe a new timid, cautious, non-English speaking child come into the classroom looking for connection, and to, overtime, see that same child’s eyes light up in engagement, smile, clap her hands, bounce her head, wiggle her legs, and sing along with me, a song selected intentionally in her language and played repeatedly at music and movement time!
My children are wonderfully diverse and equally worthy of respect. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve their educational, physical, linguistic, and social emotional needs.
Though we are now learning from a distance, my children still need to move, are on the move, and love to move!
My Project
Dear Donors, my students need a wireless keyboard, adjustable stand up desk and desk stool to engage in the learning of various subjects as well as music and movement activities. They will have the opportunity to participate in dance movements such as, swinging, stomping, marching, twisting, twirling, bending, stretching, breathing, and bouncing activities. Together, these requested tools will support my student's cognitive development, emotional well being, and large motor development. Furthermore, the wireless keyboard and adjustable stand will foster my student's learning in math, science, and, literacy. The children will be able to engage in making AB color, shape, and size patterns as well as forming body movement patterns. They will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of Read-Alouds in which they will be learning about animal habitats, trees, deforestation, recycling, buildings, clothing, balls, pets, and music.
In addition, the Scotch Thermal Laminator will be used to laminate visual supports to help my preschoolers learn new vocabulary and concepts.
For example, they will be able to see images of how ocean pollution is detrimental to the well being of ocean animals as it negatively affects their habitat. Furthermore, they will get to see, for instance, laminated images of healthy sea animals vs. unhealthy sea animals, that will help them compare and contrast data.
When Mrs. Keaton's kids move, they are modeling essential learning in motion, and are on their way to academic success!
Gracious Donors, on behalf of my preschoolers, we thank you in advance for your investment in our education and in our future!
