This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from various social economic backgrounds. They range from low income families to homes where parents are trying their best to raise their children in a neighborhood that has gang related problems daily. There are students that don't have either parent and are either with a foster family or with a relative. Either way, they come to class eager to learn, which is why I wouldn't want anything more but to enhance their excitement for education through games and materials.

My Project

My students need to express themselves in all aspects, especially in the Arts. In order to tap into to their creativity, I would like to have fun and engaging material to enhance this. That is why having bright, colored and eye catching materials that my students can use and manipulate to their liking is the ideal tool to have in my classroom. Using Astro Bright colored paper and Mr. Sketch markers will only motivate and enhance my students' learning in all subject matters. Colored post its are always eye catching for my learners, so to have these easily accessible to my students will only result in their engagement. Throughout the year my students write their own books that are narrative, informational and opinion writing. Usually, my students simply staple their finished piece, but why not bind it like authors do. My budding authors will be delighted to see their book published using an actual binding machine.

To see their final writing piece published in this creative form will excite and motivate my students to be possible authors and illustrators in the future.
