This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from high poverty, low income families. They do not have art supplies at home. Art is important in life because it allows you to creatively think. I believe that kids can benefit from learning about art in different ways. Please help me bring art to my students.

I work in a Title I, high poverty, low socio-economic school located in Arizona.

My students often receive food bags to take home on the weekends to help out with their families who are in need. These children do not have extra money for art supplies. I would like to teach them about art and sculpture. Please help me bring art to these students in need.

My Project

I will use the materials (markers, wire) to help my students learn about 3D sculpture. They will use the markers to color recycled water bottles. They will use the materials to create a sculpture that is inspired from the artist Chihuly. They will learn that art is everywhere and that you can turn recycled materials into a work of art. I want my students to know that artists can do amazing things even when they do not have a lot of materials. This project will help them think creatively and critically. They will have to figure out how to make their sculpture so that is balanced well enough to stand alone. Thank you for helping me bring art to a great group of kids!

This project will allow my students to have fun while learning.

They will be able to be successful in the classroom and give them hope that they can succeed in life. Art makes a positive impact in students' lives when they have fun. This sculpture will help students understand that art is everywhere. Thank you for helping with this project!
