This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me give my kindergarten students their own copy of "Chicken Soup with Rice". Every day begins with our morning meeting. It is a special time to bond as a class.
We read "Chicken Soup with Rice", and it never fails to bring smiles to my students' faces.
As I read, my students chant along with me. They even change the poem’s ending to make it funny, filling the room with giggles and laughter.This shared experience helps my students feel connected and anchored to our class. For some of my little friends who come in feeling sad or emotional, the poems from "Chicken Soup with Rice" brings comfort, joy, and a positive start to the day. Many of my students face challenges at home. One student does not even have a permanent place to live. But when we read together, I see their faces light up—those smiles are priceless, and they remind me of how important these moments are.
