My Project

I am the district librarian in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these challenges they face, I want to help them compete with other students in our state. I work very hard to give my students a great school environment, by affording them a wonderful collection of library books.

Each picture book is read to students during their library time.

In the Spring each child from kindergarten through grade 4 is invited to vote for their favorite book in the series. These votes are then emailed to the state of Maine, and when all votes in Maine are counted the winner is announced. My students are always so anxious to find out which book wins the Chickadee Award!
