My Students
"MOM!! DAD! I am scared!" The first days of school are scary especially for kindergarten students.
I teach kindergarten at a rural school in South Carolina.
Many have never been to school or an all day program and kindergarten is so new to them. They still love to be loved and have the affirmation of their teacher. They have creative minds and have such imaginations. I refuse to allow them to waste their imagination, so I use their strength of creating everyday in our learning.
My Project
The first weeks of school are so important to create a loving and accepting classroom. Using the book, "We All Sing With The Same Voice," my students will learn that even though we may be from different places, look and sound different we are still the same at heart. This is such a wonderful book to read at the beginning of the school year to foster a classroom of love and acceptance. After reading this book my students will able to discuss with a friend what they love and what makes them so special. They each will then get to use the various craft supplies to create their masterpiece to reflect themselves. Some students may choose to use the easel to paint their masterpiece or the feathers, yarn and paper bits to create their art piece. We will hang these masterpieces in our classroom to represent our multicultural classroom. Every art piece will be different and wonderful just like them!
With more students coming from various cultures it is so important that children learn how we are all truly the same.
You will be supporting and helping to create a classroom of love and acceptance with you donation. Thank you for taking the time to read our project! We would love your support!!
