Chick This Out: Hatching Chicks in Kindergarten

Help me give my students more science experiences by helping fund an incubator so my students can see the amazing development of a chicken as well as life cycle figurines.

My Students

My classroom is filled with strong personalities, from my students obsessed with athletics, competition and completing things as fast as possible to my students passionate about art, expressing themselves and coming up with new imaginative games.

They come together to push one another, guide each other and find ways to play collaboratively.

(I'll never forget the day one of my students convinced everyone to play Mario on the playground and all the students ran around pretending to jump on mushrooms and smash bricks in the air)

My Project

As a Kindergarten teacher I feel that provided hands on experiences with science is essential to students development and success. Provides experiences that students do not have access to at home and broadens there thoughts about the world around them. Through out the year our class has made time for; planting in the garden, observing caterpillars, and welcoming a class pet.

Now I want to work towards a chicken life cycle unit!

What better way to teach the life cycle of an animal than by observing a little spec in an egg transform into a cute fluffy chick? As a student my favorite science unit was when my first grade class hatched chicks. I want to bring that same excitement and joy to my classroom and with your help I can make it happen!
