My Students
My students are very creative, thoughtful and full of questions and more. They absolutely love working in our maker space on hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of a lack of supplies and resources.
Our school is in Philadelphia, and we are a Title-1 school, so our budget is limited.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning (although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly). We incorporate a variety of different learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year in our maker space.
My Project
I want all my steAm/Makerspace students to be able to create paper circuits (and have as much fun as I did) over the summer of 2021, as I attended an Infosys Pathfinders Institute PD virtually for Chibitronics, creating paper circuits and expanding my knowledge of this amazing art form.
These materials will allow learners to create a paper circuits, and they can design all of their amazing ideas.
These paper circuits and the amazing ease of Chibitronics materials will connect what they are already engaged in their art classes, and connect the A to STEM for STEAM hands-on learning.
