it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school has graciously allowed me to begin a chess program at the school. I will be pulling kids from fifth grade during their lunch period and teaching them the game of chess. I've been playing for years and can't wait for the children to learn.
Chess has been proven to sharpen the mind's of children, especially their strategizing and critical thinking skills.
Planning ahead, thinking of your opponent's moves, all make chess a game of skill and thinking. And it's fun too! What a great way to reach children.
We have been using our devices in order to play, but I think the kid's would really enjoy playing the game the "old-fashioned" way, complete with board and movable pieces. They expressed this to me directly saying the computer is okay, but they would prefer to look at a real board. Please help us develop this program for years to come.
