FULLY FUNDED! Ms. M.'s classroom raised $682
This project is fully funded
As a chemistry teacher at Frederick Douglass Academy in Harlem, we have nice lab facilities on appearance though we are forced to share equipment with all the other science teachers and there is no lab tech to organize/set up labs. Any chemistry lab should include goggles (a class set of 36) and balances so we can conduct labs during our lab periods and not wait weeks for availability and access to our stock room. And I hate having time wasted on taking measurements of mass using uncalibrated or broken triple beam balances when observations on the chemistry should occupy the minds of the children. And we cannot conduct any experiments if the kids are not protected with the appropriate eye wear. I would like to have 3 balances that measure out to .1g or ideally .01g. These goggles and balances would be used throughout the year for various laboratory experiments. I want to give my students more hands on experiences with chemistry. It is a laboratory science that requires learning outside the textbook. I hate having to limit students to mini labs that only teach measurement or just have them watch me give demonstrations because we don't have enough equipment for a lab to run efficiently in a 45 min lab period. Their experience will be more enjoyable and enriching if they get to do chemistry themselves.
There is the possibility of 36 students in each class so I would like 36 goggles and 3 balances (ideally one for every two lab benches). Goggles are first priority, then come the balances.
Thank you!!
