My Project
At our high school, I have the privilege of teaching some of the brightest and most curious students. They are not only academically gifted but also deeply passionate about exploring the world around them. My students thrive on hands-on learning experiences that allow them to see the real-world applications of the theories they study in the classroom.
For my new class The Chemistry of Cooking, I am requesting resources that will transform our classroom into a mini-kitchen where students can explore the science behind everyday culinary practices.
With these specific items, including pH meters, molecular gastronomy kits, and cooking utensils, my students will be able to experiment with various ingredients, understanding the chemical reactions that make our food taste and look the way it does. This will help them connect abstract chemical concepts to tangible, engaging activities, enhancing their comprehension and retention.
The goal of this class is to demystify the science behind cooking, allowing students to see chemistry in action and fostering a deeper interest in both science and the culinary arts. By blending these disciplines, my students will develop critical thinking skills and a greater appreciation for how chemistry plays a role in their daily lives. Along with my students' unyielding curiosity and drive to push beyond the boundaries of traditional learning this project will not only feed their minds but also their passion for discovery, making science a delicious adventure they won’t soon forget.
