This is my first year teaching Chemistry in a high school with 1200 students. There is a severe strain on the district's budget which, among other setbacks, has resulted in no supplies for my program this school year. A high percentage of the students in my classes are juniors and receive special education services; most of my students currently perform below grade level. Nevertheless, they are eager to learn Chemistry and would benefit greatly from participation in laboratory activities. A Consumer Science Kit would be extremely advantageous in teaching concepts in Chemistry and, at the same time, would be of practical advantage to them.
