My Project

At MAST (the Marine Academy of Science and Technology) on the campus of Florida International University on Biscayne Bay, in North Miami, Florida, Advanced Placement (AP) courses are a staple for students in grades nine through twelve, and are one of the few remaining courses which are paper-based.

As the AP Chemistry Exam approaches, students will be required to take full-length paper-based practice Exams.

They will also require many hours of continual practice throughout the year, all on paper, in preparation for the Exam on May 1, 2023.

As the Chemistry teacher at MAST@FIU, Biscayne Bay, I do not have a classroom printer. The only printer in the building is located on the ground floor, and is used by the administrative office and faculty. There is often a queue in the mornings, and evenings, making it difficult to schedule printing of assignments.

As I plan assignments, it would make a huge difference if we had access to a classroom printer. This printer would not only serve the AP cohort, but would also serve my Honors Chemistry cohort, which is typically over one hundred and twenty students. Other students would be welcome to use the printer as well, as they frequently have assignments to be printed, but do not have access to a printer at home.
