Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class consists of 12 energetic scholars. My students are excited to learn but lack the materials that they need. They constantly do not have markers/dry erase and or learning materials to further their learning.
My students are a hard working bunch of kids in one of the more high poverty schools around the area.
To see so many of them come to school with so little has always kept me motivated to give them everything while they're in my classroom.
My scholars common denominator in our classroom is to go to college and obtain a career not just a job. It's continues to be a great privilege to work in an environment where poverty is NOT an excuse. We use it as a motivator to give 100% to our students, and that's a truly admirable thing.
My Project
This project is all about basic resources. I am requesting a classpack of Write & Wipe Broad-Tip Markers; 12 Magnetic Wands; a classpack of Write & Wipe Thin-Line Markers; a Days in School Counting Kids kit; a set of Read-Along Pointers;a Magnetic Board Supply Caddy; and 2 complete sets of self-teaching Math machines to start off the academic year. We will consume the materials in our daily activities before the end of the school year. Both the dry eraser makers and washable markers will be used to help my students be more creative with all content area projects. The magnetic eraser holder can help keep eraser and markers within easy reach at the board since most school dry-erase boards are magnetic. The differentiated learning centers, covering content areas such as math and reading are academically rigor to promote mastery of a particular skill taught for the day. This project, to put it most simply, is set up to refill the classroom with these much needed and necessary basics.
My students, like all children, deserve the best we can give them.
Unfortunately, too many of them don't receive the best the world has to offer because of the circumstances they live in. In the classroom, I can do something about that. I can't follow these kids home every day and fix their home lives, but I can make those hours spent in my classroom great, memorable, and full of joy, safety, and high quality learning experiences. That's what this project helps achieve.
