The CSS cheerleading team is composed of talented, dedicated, intelligent, and diverse students who travel from all over the New York City Metropolitan area to attend. Our school is a select STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) school in partnership with Columbia University. We are the only select STEM school that represents the true diverse margins of New York City.
Our varsity team is in its fourth year and continues to represent our school in the community and the nation!
Since our start, we competed and won several competitions and performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. In our second year, we expanded the program and added a junior varsity team due to high demand. Both teams have not only represented the school at games but also have a tradition of performing and holding community events. For two years, the teams performed at the Harlem Shamrock Festival, a 5K run for charity. The junior varsity students also performed at Columbia University and held a clinic for younger students to give them the opportunity and access to cheerleading.
The enthusiasm our team has not only for their school but also their community enjoys sharing their tradition of staying.
My Project
Through this opportunity, our students will finally get to bring some normalcy back into their lives. Our cheerleading team has been on hold since the pandemic started and they have had limited opportunities to grow and learn. With this new experience, they will be able to learn some new moves and routines from the comfort of their home while also getting to showcase what they have learned.
By participating in this event, they will also get to re-build their camaraderie and unity.
In addition, this event would allow our team to represent our school in front of the whole nation!
