We are creating a life-like grocery store within a classroom and still need a cash register to accomplish our task. As a special education teacher, my goal is to provide the skills necessary to help my students become more independent as they move toward adulthood.
The path to adulthood includes learning how to shop and check out groceries, which fosters independence and prepares students for secular work and community living.
Learning to check groceries in a life-like classroom grocery store also provides opportunities to practice needed life-skills, such as money exchange, reading price tags, and customer interactions.
In order to set up our life-skills grocery shopping class, we need to start with a cash register so that our student shoppers can have a place to check out groceries and other items.
We appreciate your time and thank you for your kind donation!
