it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Please assist me in developing critical thinking and social skills in my students. We are a Title I school with limited supplies for creative and engaging activities. We currently have 0 chessboards available. I'm trying to create an environment where they can learn the pieces and movements, and getting to know the actual chessboard is vital.
I am also trying to give all my students, no matter what their background or disability, another avenue for socialization and communication.
I want to create community and joy by utilizing an intellectual game. Chess is not just a game. I want to teach them how to think two to three steps ahead of their opponent because in life, you must always think two to three steps before your decision-making, and chess is the ideal way to do so. I want to teach them to socialize and critical thinking.
Our Lunch Chess Club is open and available for any and everyone. Our club is for anyone, regardless of IEP, 504, disability, etc. Chess knows no boundaries or limits. So anyone is welcome and anyone can play. We just need the supplies to get going. Please help us make our club a reality.
