Block play is a great vehicle for children to use their imagination to take them from point A to point B, but having materials that enhance a child's ride from A to B makes the trip even more exciting!
My students are Pre-Kindergarten students who are all from low income families.
The majority of my students, or I like to call them, my little friends, come from non-English speaking families. These precious children have had very few early learning experiences, which is why they have earned a placement in my classroom. Each of them are very curious about the world around them, and enjoys learning through exploration, building and creating.
My Project
I am requesting block mates to add variety to our current unit block collection. Sets of block mates will allow my little friends to explore, create and use their imagination in more elaborate ways in the block center. With block mates, my little friends can create animals, dinosaurs, or vehicles to go along with the block structures they create.
By providing block mates to our block center, you can rejuvenate students interest in the important activity of building with blocks.
Block play helps to improve students understanding of spatial awareness, cause and effect, math concepts, and eye-hand coordination. The added addition of the block mates will encourage exploration and imagination.
