My Project
Communication between an educator and their students is critical for student success. I make a point to share updates with my students about their attendance, grades, work product, etc. Sometimes, when students are absent for multiple classes it becomes more difficult to communicate effectively. Last year, I implemented the use of folders. I could put students' graded work, progress reports, etc., in their folders and the information could live there until they come to class. The problems with the folders are that they become a lot to manage--I have 6 classes with at least 20 kids per class. All of those folders become a challenge to organize and easily access.
This project seeks to acquire 6 professional mailboxes for my classroom where students can keep with folders in their labeled mail slots and I can share news and updates by simply placing any documents in their mail slot.
I imagine this project being a help to both myself and my students. I anticipate the students arriving to class and immediately walking over to their class' mailbox. They will retrieve their folder and any documents I have shared with the class or with individual students. Students will know exactly where their folder is because they have a designated slot. I can see what work students are doing because I can easily access student folders without searching a pile already sky high! This project will be of immediate benefit to my students and I am excited about initiating this protocol in my classroom.
