Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These books will be used for daily read-alouds as well as for the classroom library! These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. I believe so much of what we do in the classroom community--learning to be respectful, learning from mistakes, learning to read, write, etc.--is centered around our conversations involving these major themes in literature.

Many of my students--whether below, approaching, at, or above grade level--LOVE being read to!

Many of these books highlight socio-emotional learning, which is so important to building their sense of self and belonging. Many of my students are working extra hard to overcome their learning challenges (e.g., illiteracy). How exciting would it be for them to put their new skills to practice with great books?

My hope is also that students will have exposure to quality authors and series they'll seek out inside the classroom and beyond. How many times have we, as adults, reread a book we really love vs. a graphic novel?

The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. Thank you for helping to foster my students' love for the printed word!
