This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school in the Bronx, our students are brilliant, curious, and resilient. They show up every day with a strong desire to learn—despite the barriers that come with living in one of the most under-resourced districts in New York City. What they lack in access to materials, they make up for in grit, passion, and potential.
To help them reach their full potential, we are requesting a classroom set of NumWorks graphing calculators—a modern, intuitive tool that helps students visualize and understand complex mathematical concepts.
These calculators are especially helpful for preparing for all New York State Math Regents exams, from Algebra 1 to Geometry and beyond. The NumWorks interface supports exploration, graphing, and checking solutions in real time, giving our students a chance to engage with math more deeply and confidently.
Because of their cost, most families in our community can’t afford a personal calculator. That's why we're asking for a full class set that can be used daily—one for every student in each period. With these tools in hand, our scholars will be better equipped to build foundational skills, boost their Regents scores, and see themselves as future mathematicians, engineers, and scientists.
Your support will make a meaningful difference in our classroom and in the lives of students who are more than ready to succeed—if only given the chance. Help us give them the tools they deserve.
