My Students
The school where I work is an urban school with a high poverty rate. Students are often eager to learn, but come to school lacking basic social, emotional, and academic skills. One of the biggest challenges as an educator is meeting students where they are, and making the most of our time together to make the greatest gains. Parents are often willing to help students as they learn and grow, helping them to be be successful, life-long learners. My students and I would love to have a chart stand. This would help us create our charts that match our standards as well as a place to store previous charts. Also, I would love to have a chart stand so that students can create pieces of writing together and see this place in our room as an anchor for our learning together.
My Project
Having a chart stand in our classroom will help us anchor our learning. The chart stand will be a central part of our learning and be a way to focus our learning in one area. Students will have access to big books, anchor charts and other materials to reference new learning. The chart stand will also help students have a place to practice writing and composing pieces writing. In our classroom, both students and teachers will use the chart stand to help practice the new concepts we are learning about in all academic areas as well as serving as a big book holder/ magnetic center during our workstation time.
