This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an inner city fourth grade teacher in Illinois. I am privileged to work with my students; however some of my student's lack resources at home to reinforce the skills they learned at school because they come from low economic status households, but all of my students enjoy learning.

When going over basic reading and math concepts, I found my students vary in levels.

Also, I found my students learn in different ways. So, I work in small groups. The small groups allow me to focus on different activities for different academic areas, this serves as an excellent way to effectively address the individual needs of each of my student's. However, we have limited resources to make small groups effective.

My Project

To ensure I can provide all my student's to an effective and collaborative instruction, I need assistance with resources. I am requesting for my students: easel chart paper that they will use during whole class and small groups, poster markers, and a timer. These resources will allow me to effectively build on skills being taught in a fun and educational way and ensure all students' needs are being met.

Students will have a new love for reading and math because the small groups will open their eyes and they will see that these subjects can be fun.

By helping students have a greater joy for reading and math, you are helping our future have a desire to maybe one day become authors and mathematicians.
