My Students
I work in West Philadelphia where the families have very limited resources to help support their children's literacy needs. Recently, I had the chance to revitalize the school library. For years, this space has not been used, and our students have been thrilled to experience a transformed space for learning, listening, and reading.
Students at our school come to class without pencils, paper, and folders, and many times arrive without having eaten breakfast.
We are a K-8 school with approximately 800 students.
The students I teach are excited to learn and happy to be a part of our school community. However, materials and supplies are almost non-existent and need to be purchased by the teachers. Students here love to read and need all the support they can get.
My Project
Now that our students are learning from home, it is imperative that as a teacher I have chart paper to help my scholars learn. I need paper to teach them virtually from my home. They are learning remotely and need to see me through a screen. When we are discussing reading comprehension strategies and/or vocabulary or even writing together, I need large paper to write on.
The chart paper is vital to work with while my scholars are working.
