In a day and age when teachers are asking for SmartBoards and ELMO projectors, I am humbly requesting the predecessor to these technologies: chart paper!
I'm a second grade Special Education teacher in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.
My school is a Title I school, and approximately 90% of its students receive free lunch. Since my school is located in such a high-needs neighborhood, my classroom does not have the technological bells and whistles that should be commonplace in the education of today's students.
My Project
We don't have a SmartBoard. We don't have an ELMO projector. But we still have a need to see vocabulary words, math problems, and story starters written large enough for everyone to see. The requested chart paper pads will be used throughout this year and hopefully next year to enhance our daily lessons. Weekly vocabulary words and various assignments can be written on these large pads of paper and posted around the classroom for future reference.
Please help my class of 7 and 8 year-olds by contributing to this project.
While chart paper may not sound like much, this very simple supply will have a tremendous impact of my students' quality of education.
