My Students

My school is set in El Cerrito, California. FKMS has a diverse student body with multiple languages and cultures represented. All of my students come from diverse countries, families, and socio-economic standings, and large portion of students come from low-income households.

My goal is to create a curriculum that incorporates blended learning using technology, centers the interests and needs of students, and builds relevance to their lives.

I currently teach science for both 7th and 8th graders. Students in my class use technology daily and engage with a variety of sources to gather knowledge in science class.

My Project

In a Blended Learning Classroom, students are expected to use their technology to support their learning. An issue I've seen in class is students forgetting chargers at home or losing them. Another issue I've come across in class is that my desks are too far from the outlets.

When students are expected to use their tablets for a majority of the day at school, it should be a guarantee that they have readily accessible chargers and outlets.

As I continue to integrate technology and other learning tools into my classroom, I want to ensure that my students do not experience any interruptions to their learning.
