This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In order to make class interactive and a safe environment to answer questions, I will often have students connect to class through various interactive platforms like Nearpod, Pear Deck, Schoology from a device. These devices allow students to ask questions anonymously in front of their peers without making anyone uncomfortable for being confused in class. It evens the playing field for all learners! Unfortunately, we do not have enough school devices and students need to connect from their cellphones in class to our online classroom. While we can get on the district Wi-Fi, their phone batteries often die and by the end of the day and many in my class are unable to join us on the online platforms they enjoy so much.
While some students can sit close to an outlet, the center tables cannot be connected to the phone chargers, and they miss out on the online fun!
Cellphones can be used to help in the classroom but not if they aren't fully charged. These portable charges would be such a game changer to allowing students to focus on the tasks in class instead of worry if their phone will make it to the end of the day for our interactive classroom.
