Charcoal Supplies for Art Class

My Project

A lot of what I do is look at what the kids are making, which is often pretty amazing, then try to create assignments that could improve the work, such as color layering or use of a tool such as charcoal, sticks and kneaded erasers. I want to teach the technique of portrait drawing without destroying any of the natural creativity that is happening. I have never met a professional artist who was great only because of the skills they learned, love is always the secret ingredient. It is always because they learned to express who they were and what they love. I feel honored to be able to make an impression on children at this stage in their development. My hope is that it can really give them a head start in thinking about drawing and art in a constructive way, which they can carry forward. I wonder how many artists give up, because nobody can see what they are doing, and how great they are, early on.
