My Students
Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ability levels. Our school is a Title I school, and we have many English Language Learners. Many students come from a disadvantaged background. and are facing economic challenges.
There is a wide range of individual needs from students with learning disabilities, behavioral, speech and language disorders to students with Autism.
Despite these challenges, we all put forth our best efforts every day, making the most of the supplies we have been given!
My Project
Students will see themselves represented in these collections of diverse books. These award winning titles will add diverse characters and authors from underrepresented groups. Students will be able to listen to stories on CDs in small groups and read along with stories which have characters that look like themselves. Read aloud stories will be used to introduce students to characters from around the globe.
These diverse texts will inspire readers and writers in my classroom because they will have real mentor texts.
They will see a diverse collection of stories which will mirror our diverse classroom.
