Help me give my students library books that reflect their neurodiverse identities and are accessible to them!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Rizza's classroom raised $299
This project is fully funded
My Project
It's hard to encourage reading when reading is hard, books are boring, and you don't see yourself reflected in them! This collection of books aims to make my classroom library one that my students will enjoy because they will be able to read them, and will see characters like them in the books!
The students in my special education classroom are a neurodiverse bunch, and our current classroom library does not reflect their identities, nor does it contain enough books that are accessible to them.
I have put together a collection of books that contains characters that have characters with the neurodiverse identities such as Down Syndrome, dyslexia, ADHD, and autism. I also ordered some books that are more accessible for them to read, such as decodable books and books that are published in dyslexia-friendly formats. Finally, I included a pack of Curious George books because my students love him, and we only have one of his books at the moment!
Thank you so much for considering a donation that will help my students learn to love reading and themselves more!
