My Students
The students that will benefit from this project range age 5 to 12. They are kids from a small urban community. Each student has different academic needs, represents a different background, and has different goals for the future. This project will focus on independent learning skills aided by freedom of choice.
This project will benefit all learners at our school.
The students in this group have a variety of abilities and disabilities and cultural backgrounds. All of our students come to school with a history of adverse childhood experiences.
My Project
We need books on our school bookshelves that represent our student population. Students need to see characters like themselves in print. Many of the books selected will have inspiring messages for the students of our school about being the best person they can be and accepting who they are. Students in my classroom like to read about children their own age. Our school library doesn't have a large collection of books with minority characters. The selection of books I am requesting will hold their interests and keep them reading. These books will be added to the school library for all students to read and check out.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
