This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the smell of new paint, and new paper, or the lovely tinkling sound of a bucket of beads? Help my students make the beautiful connections between art, imagination, and diversity!

My students are bilingual, special needs students with a wonderful thirst for knowledge.

They love to read and be read to, but what they love most is tactile learning. It gives them the most pleasure when their learning is hands-on and they are able to express themselves. I cannot think of anything better than seeing their beautiful faces light up when they are able to express their individual artistic visions.

My Project

I am requesting art supplies such as paint, paper, and brushes, so that my students will be able to create peer portraits while learning about respect. My students also need people colored paper and collage materials, so that they can explore the technique of collage while also learning about diversity and different cultures.

These materials are so important because our Department of Education has charged us with the responsibility of adopting national standards and creating lessons that are interdisciplinary.

I want my students not only to learn about respect and diversity, but also apply and express these ideals.
