Chapter Three: Stories en Español—Building a Library for Everyone
Help me give my students I’m asking for more books to expand our classroom library, especially in Spanish, so all students can access stories that reflect their language, culture, and interests.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom has become a haven for readers. Books like Dog Man, Scary Stories, and Roald Dahl classics are flying off the shelves, and now even Harry Potter is making it into students’ hands. We’ve built a culture of reading, and it’s clear how much my students value the library. They love discovering new books, and their excitement is contagious.
While I’ve used my funds to buy Spanish books, I still can’t fulfill many needs on my own.
This project will help expand our bilingual collection, ensuring my Spanish-speaking students have books that reflect their language and culture. Every student deserves to see themselves in the stories we share.
Our library is more than just a place to check out books. It’s a peaceful space where students come to read during our intervention block, and now, because of their growing interest in reading, we even have a “library class.” This project will help continue building that safe, quiet space where students can connect with the books they love.
I can only count on you for one last update to our library before the year ends. Your support will help us grow our collection and ensure that every child has access to stories that speak to them, whether in English or Spanish. Together, we’ll create a reading community where all students can thrive.
