This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I’m thrilled to be moving up from kindergarten to third grade this year, but with this exciting transition comes a new challenge: my classroom library isn’t ready for older readers. As a teacher in a low-income community, many of my students are English Language Learners and don’t have access to age-appropriate books at home. I want to change that.
My goal is to fill our classroom with engaging, high-quality chapter books that will captivate their imaginations, build their vocabulary, and help them grow into confident, enthusiastic readers.
Reading opens doors, not just academically, but emotionally and socially, and I want every student in my class to feel that joy and empowerment.
Unfortunately, building a whole new classroom library is expensive and I can't do it alone. With your help, I can give these amazing kids the chance to fall in love with books that reflect their interests, lives, and dreams.
