This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let me tell you about the students at our school. They are motivated students. Although they come from low-income families, they continue to shine and push through many challenges. Our school is limited in resources and space, yet these kids have demonstrated great growth and are accomplishing many goals.

All the teachers at our school have very high expectations for all our students no matter their background.

We want all our students to have the same opportunities that many other students in urban settings have in regards to resources. These kids are amazing and deserve nothing but the best!

My Project

In middle school it's all about reading chapter books, so I am requesting these chapter books that my students are interested in and can relate to. Many of my students this school year are newcomers from Latin America. These young humans have faced many challenges and now it is up to me to make their learning experience a wonderful one that meets their needs. Our classroom library does not have Spanish chapter books and they ask every day when they will have a chance to check a book out in their native language. These materials will help spark their interest in reading because they will be able to read the books and relate to their themes.
